President: US seeks to sow seeds of discord among world nations

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, August 17, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that restoration of global peace and security has been made possible thanks to the resistance of world nations in their struggles with global arrogance.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the presidential office, President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with the new North Korean ambassador to Tehran.

Arrogant powers try to sow seeds of discord among world nations to attain their sinister goals, he said.

It is incumbent upon all world nations to exercise vigilance in dealing with global arrogance, he said.

Referring to ongoing developments between North and South Koeras, he said the officials of both countries should not let the enemies fish in troubled waters and to wisely thwart their conspiracies, he said.

President Ahmadinejad also advised the US officials to avoid provocative measures and to pull out their forces from the region and let the people in both Koreas resolve their own problems.

Expressing satisfaction with the expansion of ties between Iran and North Korea, he underlined that there is no limit to upholding of amicable ties between the two countries.

In the meeting, the new North Korean ambassador submitted his credentials to the president and said it is among legitimate rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran to benefit from nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

North Korea is opposed to putting pressure or imposing sanctions against Iran and believes that the country’s nuclear standoff should be resolved through peaceful means, said the new North Korean ambassador.
