Tehran ready for explicit talks with Obama: FM spokesman

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said on Tuesday that Tehran is ready to hold an explicit and transparent meeting with US President Barack Obama in the presence of media.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying that Tehran will inform the world nations of its strong logic and reasoning.

The upcoming United Nations General Assembly session, if the US president agrees, would be a good opportunity for holding an eye-to-eye, explicit and transparent meeting between President Obama and President Ahmadinejad in the presence of world media, the FM spokesman said.

During that meeting, Iran's logic regarding international issues, the existing crises and the ongoing developments will be discussed, he said, adding that then the world nations would judge which one of the logics is correct, that of the Iranians or the one belonging to Washington.

He further referred to Monday’s speech of President Ahmadinejad announcing the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness for holding talks with President Obama.
