Majlis instructs IAEO to enrich uranium up to 20 percent

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, July 20, IRNA -- Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization was instructed upon a Majlis approval to enrich uranium up to 20 percent for research reactors.

The decision was made in line with Majlis Sunday approval of a plan for maintaining Iran’s peaceful nuclear achievements.

Based on the approval, the IAEO is required to enrich uranium up to 20 percent for Iran’s research reactors which would, in turn, use it in medical, industrial and agricultural fields.

The approval also instructed the government to cooperate with the International Atomic energy Agency within the framework of the Safeguards Agreement of nuclear weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The government is also forbidden by Majlis to meet any demands “beyond” the Safeguards Agreement.

The Iranian MPs further instructed the government “to take retaliatory actions” against countries which would manage to inspect Iranian planes and ships or its cargos as well as those countries which would refuse to deliver fuel to the Iranian planes at their airports.
