Defense minister says new submarines to deliver to Navy soon
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, July 19, IRNA -- Minister of Defense Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Sunday that new domestically made submarines would be delivered to Iran’s Navy on July 27.
The new vessels made by experts of Iran’s defense industries would be delivered to the Navy on July 27, marking the birth anniversary of the 12th Imam of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) Infallible Household,” the minister told reporters at the end of a cabinet session.
Vahidi said the submarines, highly equipped with modern equipments, would improve the Navy's maneuver capabilities.
Asked if Iran was to suspend its agreement with Russia on delivery of the S300 systems to the country, the minister said, Tehran was still “willing to follow up the case with Russians through negotiations”.
Vahidi stressed that Russian officials have made no “official comment,” so far, on their refusal to deliver the S300 systems to Iran.
