President: US weak management of nuke bombs puts nations in danger

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 28, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Monday that majority of nations are now in danger due to the US weak management of nuclear bombs.

“I advise holding a referendum in the US and the countries where the US bombs are kept to know whether the peoples are satisfied with the issue or not,” said President Ahmadinejad in a press conference here on Monday.

Asked about the US Congress new approval of gasoline and fuel sanctioning of Iran, which awaits the US President Barack Obama’s consent in order to go in effect, and that whether the sanctions will affect the Iran-West talks and that whether Iran has taken any initiative in reaction, President Ahmadinejad said, “Rest assured that if they wish to sanction Iran in the energy sector, its impact on our country’s economy will be positive but it will negatively impact the talks.”

Also about claims of Obama’s new letter to Iran, he said, “Perhaps there were some people who already imagined that the US leaders do not know anything about history but now I have understood that they do not know geography at all too and are not familiar with the history of the Iranian nation and the Middle East. This stands for pure illiteracy and lack of information.”

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran, with 1,750,000 square kms of land and 70 million population, ranks second worldwide in terms of oil and gas reserves. The Iranian people can raise their gasoline production by 20 to 30 million liters in a week or halve their gasoline consumption without having their economic growth rate lowered.

The West has underestimated Iran’s natural talents, said the President, adding, “No problem; Iran wishes to establish ties with countries based on passion and cooperation but regarding their behavior, we tell them they are mistaken. If they make a mistake they will harm themselves not us.”
