Iran to announce conditions for nuclear talks soon: President

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Shahr-e Kord, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari Prov, June 16, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that Iran would soon announce its conditions for the new round of nuclear talks with the West.

He made the remarks reacting to the recent call for talks with Iran which was made by High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Catherine Ashton.

She said last Thursday that European countries should continue talks with Iran.

“We have conditions for talks that we will announce soon,” President Ahmadinejad said in his address to a large crowd in this southwestern provincial city.

He stressed that Iran “will preserve the right to take strong countermeasures against any governments that, from any corner of the world, manage to violate even one iota of the Iranians' rights under the pretext of the resolution (1929).”

Criticizing the UNSC’s “politicized” and “irrational” performance vis-à-vis Iran, the President said the US “will by no means be able to buy any credit for the council.”

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Shahr-e Kord earlier Wednesday morning with a number of his cabinet members on the third round of his provincial tours.
