Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh who was speaking with IRNA after the IAEA chief’s report on Iran at the Board of Governors, added, “The agency would continue its verification tests as before.”

Criticizing some parts of the secretary general’s reports, he reiterated, “Unfortunately by presenting such reports Mr. Amano confuses the world public opinion, because presenting parts of the technical details is confusing for ordinary readers that are of various social classes and age groups.”

According to Soltaniyeh, a nuclear expert that would be aware of the regulations of the agency would by taking a glance at the existing information easily realize that the program is totally under the supervision of the IAEA and that the cases referred to as lack of cooperation are beyond the barriers of the NPT requirements and commitments.”

The Iranian ambassador to the UN nuclear watchdog added, “Besides, the secretariat office and the secretary general’s repetition and emphasis over information request on claimed studies over the so called US laptop greatly harm the prestige of the agency and it is necessary that the secretary general would soon put an end to this tedious and repetitious process.”

He emphasized, “In no one of the NPT articles the countries are urged to present information to the agency regarding their uranium mines, or their heavy water facilities, unless they have also signed the Additional Protocol.”

The point stressed in Amano’s Monday report on Iran was the amount of stockpiled lowly enriched uranium (LEU) in Iran that he said is around 2.400 kilos presently.
