Mehmanparast: Iran fuel swap could take place in Turkey

Tehran, May 17, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said here on Monday that Iran fuel swap will take place in Turkey.

Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the G15 Summit, Mehmanparast said the decision was made in the trilateral meeting on a nuclear fuel swap deal between Iran, Brazil and Turkey in Tehran.

He said the fuel swap’s letter will be sent to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) within a week.

Mehmanparast stated that if Iran and Vienna group sign the agreement, the fuel will be kept in Turkey under Iran supervision.

A trilateral meeting on a nuclear fuel swap deal opened in Tehran attended by Iran, Brazil and Turkey on the sidelines of the G15 Summit.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Brazilian President Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan are participating in the trilateral meeting.

The 14th G15 Summit will be opened in Tehran on Monday with the participation of the high-ranking officials from member states.

Five presidents including da Silva, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will attend the event.
