Jask, Hormuzgan Prov, May 11, IRNA – The Fifth phase of the `Velayat 89’ war games started Tuesday in the Iranian southern waters by firing cruise missiles towards the hypothetical targets.
The mid-range intelligent missile is designed to trace and completely destroy its targets.
It was fired from shore to open seas in the northern Indian Ocean.
Flying up to a 50 to 60-km distance, the radar-evading missile is more advanced than its foreign counterparts.
It can be installed on vessels such as warships and hovercraft.
Iran’s Army has started a five-stage military exercise since last Wednesday which will end on May 12.
Different units of the Iranian Army displayed defensive and deterrent naval power in a vast area which included the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and northern Indian Ocean regions.
