Foreign military officials at Iran Velayat 89 maneuver

Tehran, May 10, IRNA – Military officials from countries of Iraq, Qatar and Oman attended the final stage of the Iranian Army forces war games dubbed “Velayat 89” on Monday.

The foreign officials, at the invitation of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of Iran, arrived in the south of the country on May 9 to observe the military drills in that region.

Iraq is watching the Iranian military war games for the first time; meanwhile, this is the second time that Qatar is taking part in the event.

Qatari military officials attended the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) military exercise that was launched in the Persian Gulf waters last month.

Different units of the Iranian Army displayed their defensive and deterrent naval power in a vast area which included the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and northern Indian Ocean regions.
