Navy starts "Velayat 89" war games in Hormuz Strait

Tehran, May 5, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Navy started war games in the country’s southern waters on Wednesday.

The Navy’s military exercise dubbed “Velayat 89” is currently conducted between the Hormuz Strait and the northern part of the Indian ocean.

The five-stage war games will display the combat readiness of the armed forces in the Islamic Republic’s southern waters.

The combat, support, logistic, radar and electronic units as well as surface-to-surface, under water and air missiles will be used in the war games with the support of Air Force fighter planes.

The second stage of the war games will be conducted on Thursday.
