Ahmadinejad: Nuclear bomb for no one, nuclear energy for all

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New York, May 4, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that Iran has chosen a comprehensive motto for nuclear energy that is ? Nuclear bomb for no one and peaceful nuclear energy for all.’

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in an exclusive interview with an international TV channel of Russia.

Iran is strongly opposed to nuclear bombs, said the Iranian president.

Nuclear energy could be used in industries, agriculture and medicine and nuclear bomb is one of its deviational applications, he said.

On mending fences between Iran and the US, he said the US should make tangible changes in its policies but the country suffers lack of concrete decision-making due to decisive role of lobbies in the country.

On the impact of his current visit to US considering the anti-Iran efforts made by some countries at the United Nations Security Council on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, President Ahmadinejad said the majority of world countries admit that the veto power is unfair and is the root cause of injustice in the world.

Some members of the UN Security Council are opposed to Washington policies to this effect, said the Iranian president.

On US efforts to put more pressure on Iran, he said, “We are not concerned about sanctions although we never welcome them. We regard these sanctions as cruel and unjust.”

"I think many ill-wishers try to make US president confront Iran," the president said.

Former US president issued many resolutions against Iran but to no avail, he said, adding that Iran does not hesitate to continue its path of success and development.

The Russian reporter asked about the well-known quotation from Ahmadinejad that the Zionist regime should be wiped off, “Our words on Palestine is quite clear and precise," said the Iranian president, adding, "We say that Palestinians should be given a chance to make decision on their own fate, hold a referendum and if they win, there will be no sign of the Zionist regime.”

Whether President Obama and former President Bush are different or not, Ahmadinejad said there is a big difference between them.

"Bush had support of political wings but President Obama lacks such an influence but has support of public opinion," he opined.

In the US, media are under control of political wings but we love the US people as well as the whole nations, said the Iranian president.
