Army Chief: Obama virtually committed suicide with his recent remark
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 17, IRNA -- Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said US President Barack Obama virtually committed suicide by his recent remarks on nuclear issues.
Making the remarks on the sidelines of the ongoing 1st International Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation in Tehran on Saturday, he said Obama provoked the whole world against him by making those remarks.
Saying that the superpowers never heeded to the issue of disarmament, he said they only used it as a tool while Iran has now volunteered to promote the issue in an unprecedented initiative to bring countries which are after peaceful nuclear technology together.
He said the present gathering was in fact an attempt by Iran to urge those countries which possess nuclear weapons to destroy them and also to call on the international bodies to focus on the issue to guarantee the human rights.
Commenting on Obama’s remarks, he further said such threats revealed the weakness of the US president and other American officials in persuading world nations on their own nuclear arms programs.
The major general was also asked by reporters to comment on the news of the probable attack of the US and the Zionist regime on Iran in coming months.
He said Americans were not capable of such a thing, stressing that given the high defense capabilities of Iran no American soldier would return home alive if American officials committed such a mistake.
