Soltaniyeh stresses Iran's will for world nuclear disarmament

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, April 17, IRNA -- Iran’s Permanent Envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh said here on Saturday that the ongoing Tehran disarmament conference is an indication to Iran’s will for global nuclear disarmament.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 1st International Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation which started this morning with the participation of officials from some 60 world countries.

He added that the Tehran confab will affect the future New York meeting on reviewing the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while making use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, is wasting no efforts in line with nuclear disarmament, Soltaniyeh added.

The Tehran conference has a message for all peace-seeking nations throughout the globe, he said.

He reiterated that the performance of certain countries in the past 40 years has not met the expectations of the international community, adding that, therefore, the New York confab will face serious challenges.
