Mottaki: Nuclear swap deal meets interests of all parties

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, April 15, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Thursday that nuclear swap deal could meet the interests of negotiating parties.

He made the remarks in a joint press conference with his counterpart from Central African Republic Antoine Gambi in Tehran on Thursday.

Referring to fruitless negotiations among G5+1 members, he said under current circumstances it is advisable to support decisions made by Vienna group to this end.

“We believe that rational decisions could help resolve the issue and prepare the grounds for new round of cooperation between the two sides,” Mottaki said.

Criticizing the Zionist regime for stockpiling hundreds of nuclear weapons, he called for disarmament of nuclear weapons around the globe.

The Zionist regime's nuclear bombs is a source of instability and threat in the region, he said.

Iran welcomes expansion of ties with African states and believes that it is among their legitimate rights to adopt friendly and free relations with other countries in the world, he said.

Iran would like to broaden level of relations and cooperation with African states mainly in economic field, he said.

Welcoming the first ever visit of his Central African Republic counterpart, Mottaki said the two sides are to review expansion of mutual relations as well as regional and international developments.

The visiting foreign minister of the Central African Republic, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of his country’s president to the Iranian president and its nation and said the meeting would play a vital role in expansion of economic and political cooperation between the two countries.

He has come to Iran to attend the international gathering on nuclear disarmament.
