IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Kashan, Isfahan Prov, April 12, IRNA -- Iran’s first nuclear power plant will go on stream in the southern province of Bushehr next summer, Deputy head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behzad Soltani said Sunday night.

He made the announcement on the sidelines of his visit to an exhibition on the latest nuclear achievements of Iranian experts which is underway in this central provincial city.

Speaking to IRNA, Soltani said that the power plant's “warm-water test has already been started” and it would be completed within a month.

“After the test completion, nuclear fuel will be added to the reactor, and this would put Iran among members of the world’s nuclear club,” said the official.

He noted the AEOI had another project under construction in the city of Arak in Markazi Province which is a 40-MW research reactor.

According to Soltani the project has, so far, had a 70-percent progress and was completely designed and made by Iranian experts.
