Salehi: Iran capable of producing 1st model of 3rd generation centifuges

Tehran, April 9, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said here Friday that the country has produced the first model of the third generation centrifuges as the initial model of this device will be unveiled today.

Addressing the Fourth National Nuclear Festival, Salehi said the machines have successfully passed their mechanical tests.

He stressed that the seperation capability of these machines is nearly six times of that of the previous generations.

More on importance of the generation of the centrifuge machines, Salehi said that besides being capable of seaparting, the production rate will also increase in the machines.

He added that the first model of the generation of the machines will be unveiled by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in today’s festival.

Elsewhere in his address, Salehi said operations to spot uranium reserves in other parts of the country are underway.

National Nuclear Festival started at Tehran’s Milad Tower.

Key state and military personalities, including President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad, are present at the ceremony.

Among the guests are members of the cabinet, of the Guardian Council and of Majlis (Parliament) as well as a number of foreign diplomats and ambassadors.

The festival began with playing of national anthem and recitation of verses from holy Quran.

The president is said to give a good nuclear news in the ceremony.

Iran's another nuclear achievement will be unveiled during the event.
