IAEA boss opposes new sanctions against Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, March 30, IRNA -- The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano expressed his opposition to western plans for imposing new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear policy.
Talking to German press on Tuesday, Amano said new sanctions against Iran would mean international nuclear inspectors have a more difficult job in the short term.
"As Iran quite often declares, they don't want to act under pressure," Amano said in his first interview with media since he assumed office.
The IAEA chief has been under intense pressure by the US and a handful of other western countries to pursue a tougher line against Iranian nuclear program.
