IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Feb 25, IRNA -- Iran’s permanent ambassador to IAEA said here Wednesday we proved at agency’s justification session Iran’s entire nuclear activities are harmonized with agency.

Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh added, “These letters, correspondences and communiqués, too, are for the enlightenment of the world nations’ public opinion and registration at the world media.”

The Iranian official who was describing the internal atmosphere of the IAEA Justification Session for IRNA added, “The agency’s Justification Session, that is usually a technical session, was held on Wednesday evening on Secretary General’s two reports on Iran and Syria at the agency’s headquarters in Vienna,”

He added, “At the session greater details were offered to the Board of Governors on the Secretary General’s reports and some members posed questions that were responded by the deputy secretary generals and the agency’s executive manager.

Iran’s ambassador said, “There are weak points and criticisms about the report, which I recognized the first time I went thorough the report and I presented them at the session.”

Soltaniyeh added, “We clearly mentioned that the expectations should not be beyond the sphere of the NPT barriers and presented explanations about the false nature of the claim that the activities at Natanz had begun prior to notifying the IAEA.”

He added, “Based on forwarded correspondences we proved that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s entire nuclear activities have been harmonized with the agency, and in order to enlighten the world public opinion we published those letters at the major media.”

Iran’s ambassador emphasized, “In those explanations for instance we showed that Iran’s activities, such as enrichment and beginning the 20% enrichment process to provide fuel for Tehran Research Reactor (TRR) were in full accordance with the agency’s regulations.”

He added, “Meanwhile, the very important point presented, which I posed as a question at that session, was that the officials at the IAEA Secretariat and the deputies of the Secretary General were asked whether there had been any development other than the 20% enrichment between the previous and the current sessions, or not? And if not, why then has this report provided a great ambiguity for the public opinion regarding a development, or new information regarding the accusations about military objectives? And it was confirmed at the session that no new development had occurred.”

Soltaniyeh said, “At this session we criticized that repeating the past issues, particularly those related to the claimed studies and accusations in fact misleads the public opinion and that is a mistake.”

He added, “We also declared that in accordance with the Action Plan, that is the agreement made between the agency and Iran, the agency is obliged to end for good the issue of the ‘American Laptop’ which has been proved to be a fully false story, and we have presented a 117 page latter in response to those accusations.”

Soltaniyeh emphasized, “On such bases, we are meanwhile going to respond to questions in the framework of the NPT.”
