Amano's report contains nothing new: Soltaniyeh
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Feb 20, IRNA -- The recent report released by new IAEA chief Yukiya Amano contains nothing new on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, said Iran's IAEA envoy.
Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) made the remark while talking to IRNA in Vienna.
Amano released his first report to the United Nations watchdog’s board of governors on Thursday.
Amano’s first report which is in fact a round up of the past topics, contains several repeated issues, Soltaniyeh said, adding that his report has been a source of misunderstanding.
Iran’s recent achievements in 20-percent uranium enrichment have been officially announced to the agency and have been done under supervision of the IAEA inspectors, he said.
Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities have always been under direct supervision of the UN nuclear agency in the past six years, Soltaniyeh reiterated.
The new IAEA chief has reiterated that there is no deviation in Iran’s nuclear activities, he said, adding that such statements prove the baseless claims of certain western states which have adopted a political approach towards the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
