Mihman-parast: Iranian-made destroyer poses no threat to region
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 20, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-parast said on Saturday that Iran’s first ever indigenously-designed destroyer aims to safeguard security of the Persian Gulf region and poses no threats to any country in the region.
Speaking to IRNA, he said some western media have spread fabricated news on the Iranian made destroyer, trying to insinuate that it will be a threat to the entire region.
The military power of every country is regarded as a deterrent force aimed at bringing peace and security to that region, he said.
Iran believes in expansion of regional cooperation for resolving issues, said the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Close cooperation and assistance of regional countries will help maintain peace and security in the region, he said.
Since the Persian Gulf is among the most sensitive regions in the world, collective cooperation among its states as underlined by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution will be vital to this goal, he underlined.
President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad during his meeting with leaders of the Persian Gulf littoral states clearly defined Iran’s constructive plans and stands on resolving regional issues, he said.
