President: Producing fuel started when suppliers rejected demand
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that Iran produces 20 percent uranium when suppliers of the fuel did not answer to Iranian demand.
He told the press conference that Iran had not planned to produce 20 percent fuel, because setting up its production line was not economical owing to low demand.
"We demanded 20 percent fuel from International Atomic Energy Agency six months ago, but, the suppliers did not show readiness to provide Iran with 20 percent enriched uranium."
He said that Iran started production of the fuel when it reached the conclusion that the suppliers did not want to cooperate.
He said in the meantime that Iran is still ready for fuel swap, otherwise, Iran will proceed with producing 20 percent fuel to meet its need.
