Salehi: 20 percent enrichment process in progress
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said on Wednesday that the process of producing 20 percent enriched uranium is properly developing, adding that the president will expound on it to the people tomorrow.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet session, Ali-Akbar Salehi remarked that this is a constant process which provides 3 to 5 kilograms of 20 percent enriched uranium per month while the amount of fuel needed for the Tehran research reactor stands at 1.5 kilograms for that period.
On a question about the probable sale of the enriched uranium, he said this fuel is only for domestic use. Salehi added that the produced material will be sent to the Isfahan nuclear plant to make nuclear fuel plates.
Salehi also said the processing of 20 percent enriched fuel is scheduled so as to avoid any disruption in supply of fuel for the Tehran research reactor.
