IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Feb 7, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a press conference in Munich on Saturday evening said that necessary political will for fuel swap and reaching an understanding in this concern exists .
On the sidelines of 46th Munich Security Conference and before departing for Tehran, Mottaki told reporters that he evaluates situation for reaching a comprehensive agreement 'positive' and added that factors for this exchange are under consideration.
He said axis of the exchange will be International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), adding that after reaching an agreement, the exchange operation can start.
Mottaki said that production of 20-percent enriched uranium will take time and we have to reach an agreement about this period of time.
He underlined that the issue of exchanging fuel has been accepted in Tehran, but there are doubts and suspicions in this concern which should be eliminated.
Referring to his meeting with Director General of IAEA on Saturday, Mottaki called it a good meeting and reminded that different fields and issues concerning cooperation between Iran and IAEA were discussed in the meeting.
Concerning Tehran Research Reactor and its fuel, Mottaki said that we have three options of production, purchase and exchange of fuel to meet our need.
He said the third option is a way for other sides to exit existing situation. On the amount of the uranium to be exchanged, Mottaki said it will be determined upon needs and mutual dialogue.
Iran's foreign minister said all countries should use their own rights and reminded that there should be a balance between countries' rights and duties in the international bodies and that no country should be forced to do its duty without enjoying its rights.
He said that we agree with the US president remarks on total atomic disarmament with no discrimination and our motto is "energy for all, nuclear weapon for nobody".
Munich Security Conference with 300 participants from around 40 countries started its work since Friday, February 5 and continues until Sunday February 7, 2010.
Foreign Minister Mottaki in the first day of the meeting expounded Iran's viewpoints on political, economic and security issues as well as recent stances of President Ahmadinejad.
