Iran denies AP report on secret uranium ore purchase

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA -- Iran rejected reports by the Associated Press news agency that Tehran is planning to purchase uranium ore from Kazakhstan in secret.

In a report from Vienna, the Associated Press had claimed that Iran was on the verge of signing contracts with Kazakhstan to secretly import 1,350 tons of refined uranium ore.

Iran’s representative office in New York in a statement on Wednesday rejected the report as totally baseless and described it as fake news.

The statement said such attempts to forge baseless news serve the aim of creating needed psychological atmosphere to advance the political objectives of the hegemonic powers.

It further stressed that such false news could never persuade a nation which enjoys full rights to peaceful nuclear technology under the International Atomic Energy Agency's regulations to halt its programs towards progress and development.
