UK ambassador to be summoned for explanations on Ashura Day events
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA -- the British ambassador in Tehran is to be summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday for some explanations over the insulting events happened on the Ashura Day (December 27), the FM spokesman said.
Speaking to reporters at his weekly press conference, Ramin Mihman-Parast said that the British ambassador would be summoned “as some Western states’ activities to encourage rioters to make tension is equal to interfering in a country’s internal affairs.”
Mihman-Parast said that the insults made on the sacred day of Ashura were aimed at offending religious values and were an “inappropriate move.”
“Some Western states have made wrong evaluations and mistakenly compared a move made by just a few thousands of rioters to the move made by tens of millions of the Iranian population,” said the spokesman.
