Tehran prosecutor says 7 killed in Ashura riots

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA -- Tehran’s Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor Abbas Ja'fari Dolatabadi said 7 people were killed in the Ashura riots which happened on Sunday.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters here on Tuesday.

Without mentioning the name of Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s nephew, the official said there is also a report on another person who was shot dead on the same day but since the police have officially announced they undertook no shootings on the day, the case is still under investigation.

Ja'fari said the rest lost their lives because they hit with hard objects or due to similar causes while two others were killed by a special kind of bullet which is not basically possessed and used by the police.

He said the cases in which people were killed need more probing, stressing that the judiciary was after investigating more deeply into the incidents to get the culprits behind them punished duly.
