Demonstrators condemn insult to Imam Khomeini

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA -- Demonstrators here in Tehran condemned the insult to the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

The demonstrators who took to streets after this week’s Friday Prayers ceremony, issued a statement, vigorously condemning insult to Imam Khomeini by some rioters recently.

The statement said the holy system of the Islamic Republic was an invaluable inheritance of the Late Imam Khomeini who initially set up the system on the basis of the principle of Velayat-e Faqih (the guardianship of the jurisprudent) which offered a fresh paradigm to run human societies thus getting world to the edges of extraordinary huge developments.

It said the Islamic revolution, too, speedily turned into a turning point in the trend of fighting the international hegemonic powers by world oppressed nations, prompting the dominance-seeking and oppressive nations since the very victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran to mobilize efforts to tarnish Iran’s image, to undermine the revolutionary nature of the system among Iranians and to target lofty ideals of the late Imam Khomeini.

The statement further expressed regret that “unfortunately, during the past few months and in the post-election riots, some of our former “brothers” who had gained fame thanks to the Islamic Revolution and the Late Imam Khomeini, would outspeed the world hegemonic powers and the harshest enemies of the Islamic revolution in preparing the ground for insults and sacrelige of the ideals of the Late Imam Khomeini and, like what the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said, “managed to undertake the task which gave the disappointed and ever weakening enemies a new life and fresh encouragement.”

It referred to the insult to the Late Imam Khomeini as the latest in the chain of treacherous acts of such people which it said evoked the revolutionary wrath of the Hizbollah Ummah at the threshold of the month of Moharram which marks the mourning period for the third Imam of the Shiite people Hussein Ibn Ali (AS).

The statement concluded by underscoring the hatred of all demonstrators against the sacriligious act done by a group of people disguised as “students” in such a holy place as a university and stressed that such acts were doomed to fail.

At the end of their statement, the demonstrators renewed their allegiance to the ideals of the Late Imam Khomeini.
