Ahmadinejad: Sanctions have no effect on Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 2, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the west sanctions against Iran are ineffective and stressed that the west has done whatever it could do against Iran so far.

In an interview with the Iranian TV on Tuesday evening, Ahmadinejad responding to a question concerning the possibility of imposing sanctions against Iran by the west on its nuclear program, said that they have already done what they could , so they want to impose sanctions on what?

Concerning possibility of sanctions on gasoline, he said that we have designed a system that makes us able to produce our needed gasoline just in one week and now we are producing another material which can substitute gasoline immediately.

He added that we produce food and machinary here for internal use and export as well, and that they need us more than what we need them.

Whether these sanctions have any negative effects or increase expenses on people life, Ahmadinejad answered that they might have effects, but it cannot put Iranians life under constant pressures and there are ways to compensate and we have done it.

Are you really not worry about military threats against sensitive centers in the country? the reporter asked and the president said that Iran is a big country with 72 million people, so who wants to do such a thing?

Ahmadinejad President Obama's behavior is worrying and continued that Iranian wished he succeeded in creating principled changes.

"But he did not succeed to do something important; he should move in direction of changing arrogant policies," said Ahmadinejad.

Concerning cooperation level with the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA), President Ahmadinejad said that Iran's cooperation with the agency has been over regulations and more than related laws so far, and now we intend to decrease it to the border of law.

Head of Supreme Council of National Security referred to a number of analyses concerning possibility of attacks by the Zionist regime against Iran’s nuclear sites and said that everybody knows about Iran’s reaction to any illogical actions.

Ahmadinejad said that we have complaint about IAEA, especially Mr. El Baradei, but we know that he is under pressure.

He stressed that we heard Mr. El Baradei had tried to tell them that they are wrong, but his effort had been futile.

Concerning the latest news on construction of 10 nuclear sites in Iran, Ahmadinejad said that these sites had already been designed and we were not obliged to declare it, because it is an indigenous industry, but six months prior to injecting gas, we will declare it to the agency.

He added that construction of these 10 sites are on government agenda and nuclear sites with 500,000 centrifuges have already been designed.

Natanz site had been designed for 50,000 centrifuges, but the new ones have more capacity than Natanz.

According to the report of Organization of Atomic Energy five places have been located for construction of these sites, the president said.
