Russian energy minister says pleased with Tehran talks
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Dec 2, IRNA -- Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko voiced pleasure with his “positive and constructive” talks with the Iranian officials during his Iran visit.
Prime Tass quoted Shmatko as saying that Russia has exceptional ties with Iran and inauguration of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has nothing to do with politics.
He said his country will contribute to constructive talks between Iran and the G5+1.
He added that Moscow follows a fixed policy towards Tehran and “I am not willing to see the ties are severed.”
“Thank God no one in Iran thinks that Moscow makes deal with the west over Iran,” he noted.
Shmatko has joined the supervisory board of the Rosatom state nuclear corporation, under a decree signed by President Dmitry Medvedev on November 28.
The Rosatom supervisory board was formed in mid-December 2007 and is being chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and head of the government secretariat Sergei Sobyanin.
Rosatom was set up in late 2007 instead of the Federal Nuclear Energy Agency.
