Salehi says Bushehr plant chillers problem solved
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi said here Tuesday that problem with chillers needed by Bushehr nuclear power plant has been solved.
Salehi, who is also Iran’s Vice-President, told IRNA, “One of the chillers we had already owned has resumed operation again and there is no problem in this concern.”
He said Russia which is the main contractor of Bushehr power plant had ordered another chiller to a third country and paid for it but the third country has postponed shipping the chillers.
He added that though the third country, engaged in production of the chillers, has been reluctant to send them, we have proceeded with our activities to complete Bushehr nuclear power plant and there is no problem in this concern.
Salehi however declined to name the third country.
Asked to comment on the goal of Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko’s Iran visit, the official said, “First of all I should say that Mr. Shmatko is the Russian Head of Tehran-Moscow Joint Economic Cooperation Commission while his Iranian counterpart in the commission is Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
He added that Shmatko had travelled to Iran to remove ambiguities about the country's peaceful nuclear program.
