Soltanieh: Don't ruin ongoing positive atmosphere

Vienna, Nov 27, IRNA -- Iran’s Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltanieh here Thursday asked certain members of the IAEA Board of Governors not to ruin the ongoing positive atmosphere and let the Iran-IAEA technical cooperation continue.
“Resolutions, sanctions and threats have had negative impact; one can not speak to our people, who have thousands years old civilization, with the language of force, but with the language of logic,” Soltanieh told Iranian reporters after the IAEA Board of Governors session, when asked about the draft statement offered to the meeting by Germany.
He said resolutions always make issues further complicated and have had the reverse impact. “So we recommend and advise not to do such things and let affairs go on in a positive and constructive atmosphere.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Solatanieh referred to a statement issued by the group of the IAEA Board members representing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), in which they supported implementation of safeguards in Iran.
He said, “NAM, comprising 100 states, once again supported Iran in a very strong statement.”
