Tehran dismisses claims of confiscating Ebadi's medal
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Friday ruled out charges that Tehran confiscated banking assets and medal of the Nobel peace prize laureate, Shirin Ebadi.
“We are surprised that Norwegian officials have hastily and without thorough study taken such a biased stance and ignored the laws and regulations respected by all,” said Mehmanparast on Friday.
Referring to firm taxation mechanisms in Norway and other European states and strong laws to avoid tax evasion and guarantee its payment, Mehmanparast said, “We do not know how Norwegian officials can, by ignoring taxation regulations of countries and tax payers’ repeated violation of law for accountancy, justify people’s avoidance to pay taxes for the movable and immovable properties and adopt certain stances which question the judicial and legal rules of countries.”
Criticizing Norwegian officials’ human rights approaches, Mehmanparast said that through their vote of abstention to one of the most inhumane events, caused by Zionist regime’s measures in Gaza, which was confirmed by tens of pages of documents and reports of Judge Richard Goldstone, Norwegian officials revealed to the world public opinion a politically motivated and double-standard approach towards human rights.
