Pro-Musavi Websites Reportedly Blocked On Election Day
June 12, 2009
Reformists in Iran say a number of websites supporting presidential candidate Mir Hossein Musavi have been blocked.
A number of Iranians have also confirmed this in phone calls to RFE/RL's Radio Farda.
Radio Farda also reported that text-messaging services, which are particularly popular among the country's youth, have been blocked across the country since the early morning hours on election day.
The semi-official Fars news agency, which is seen as being supportive of incumbent Mahmud Ahmadinejad, has reported that several websites were closed because they were illegally supporting their candidate on election day and damaging "the rival candidate."
