Ehud Barak: It is very difficult to deal with Iran's nuclear program

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, April 28, IRNA – Defense Minister of the Zionist regime Ehud Barak has described Iran's peaceful nuclear program as very complicated.

In an interview with Daily Haaretz on Tuesday he said since Iran's nuclear program is very sophisticated and complicated it is very difficult to deal with it.

"Iranians do not play backgammon, they play chess and in fact they invented the game. They are proceeding with far greater sophistication and are far more methodical," he said.

Confessing the adventurism of the Zionist regime, he said, "We have a tendency to hope for a heroic operation that will end everything, as with the bombing of the Iraqi reactor in 1981. Is that realistic?"

Referring to bombing of Iraq's nuclear facilities in 1981, he said there is no comparison between the nuclear programs of Iraq and Iran.

On the inclination of the US administration to open dialogue with Iran, he said, "We are not in a position of being able to tell the Americans whether to talk to the Iranians."

He added, "I have told them negotiations should be short and have a deadline."

To tighten sanctions against Iran, it is vital for the Russians and Chinese to fully cooperate while underlining that all options still remain on the table, he said.

Iran's nuclear program is not an irrelevant issue for the Zionist regime, he concluded.
