Iran's response to G5+1 is being prepared: Qashqavi

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Monday that Iran’s response to the recent statement of the Group 5+1 on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is being prepared.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he added that Iran’s statement will be issued in an appropriate time and with regards to the current international developments and conditions.

The world has witnessed contradictory remarks by several members of the Group 5+1 following their recent meeting on April 8, 2009, Qashqavi said.

Tehran’s response is clear, he said, reiterating that the Islamic Republic is interested in holding talks without any precondition based on justice, mutual respect and the issues of mutual interest.

Iran’s response will be issued regarding the world developments and issues such as disarmament and economic crisis, Qashqavi noted.

He did not elaborate on the venue or the date of the future round of negotiations.
