Iran's armed forces guarantee regional security: President

Tehran, April 18, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that the Iranian armed forces guarantee regional security.
He made the remarks while addressing the Army Day ceremony kicked off at the Mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini this morning.
The ceremony is attended by a number of senior Army commanders, ambassadors of foreign countries in Iran, ranking government officials and family members of war martyrs.
The president reiterated that the Iranian nation, through its powerful and committed armed forces, is ready to participate in global management and help establish security based on justice throughout the globe.
Today, the Iranian nation is one of the most powerful nations both in the region and in the entire world, the president said, praising the solidarity and unity of the Iranian people and the combat readiness of the Army.
The Iranian Army, by making use of the most complicated and developed armaments, plays a key role in promotion of national security, he said, lauding the Army’s deterrent capability.
During the ceremony, exemplary units of the Iranian Army marched to demonstrate the Army’s combat readiness.
Latest equipment manufactured and possessed by the Army were displayed during the parade.
