IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tokyo, April 18, IRNA -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Saturday that Tehran believes in “nuclear energy for all and nuclear weapons for no one”.
He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the Japanese NHK TV network.
He reiterated the legitimate right of the Iranian nation to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes based on international rules and regulations.
He further praised remarks made by the US President, Barack Obama, on annihilation of nuclear weapons, saying such a move is a positive change in Washington’s policies.
Underlining the need for annihilation of all nuclear weapons throughout the globe, the Iranian foreign minister called on all countries possessing nuclear armaments to destroy their weapons of mass destruction.
Asked about Iran’s views regarding the suspension of its nuclear enrichment process, Mottaki said Tehran would continue all its legal and peaceful nuclear activities.
On Iran’s package of proposal to the West, he said the package consists of proposals to resolve the regional and world problems.
The Islamic Republic has always been against the wrong policies being adopted in Afghanistan, he said, underlining the need for a change in the ongoing policies in that war-torn country.
