Iran protests to UN Security Council over Israel threats
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
New York, UN , April 15, IRNA – Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations in a letter to the UN Security Council strongly protested over the impudent statements of head of the Zionist regime about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Mohammad Khazaei in his letter said that lack of serious action by the Security Council in this concern has encouraged the regime.
Referring to the eight other letters written by Iran’s Mission to the UN related officials in protest to illegal statements and threats of the Zionist regime, it said that different actions of the Zionist regime officials in using pretexts to impose pressure against Iran which is clearly against all international laws and principles of the UN Chart, has continued because of the UN Security Council inefficiency.
Referring to the continuation of war crimes of the Zionist regime against defenseless people of Palestine, especially innocent people of the Gaza Strip, Khazaei said the regime resorts to threats against all nations who express sympathy with these people.
He said that cynical remarks of Shimon Perez and Benjamin Netanyahu concerning attacks against Iran’s nuclear installations and lack of the UN action in this concern has encouraged such people to resort to threats against member countries of the UN, a move which shows the warmongering nature of the regime and is a clear violation of international laws which requires a strong reaction of the UN, especially the Security Council.
He urged the Security Council to show a prompt and clear reaction against such statements and asked the Zionist regime to stop threats against the UN members.
Iran’s ambassador to the UN by underlining the peaceful aims of his country added that Iran, upon article 51 of the UN Charter, will defend itself with no doubt.
