MP terms Group 5+1 plus Iran as "7-party group"

Tehran, April 12, IRNA -- A senior parliamentarian here on Sunday proposed the use of "7-party group" instead of Group 5+1 plus Iran.
Chairman of the Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the suggestion while talking to reporters.
He added, “From now on, instead of Group 5+1 which is involved in talks with Iran on the country’s peaceful nuclear program, the term of '7-party group' should be used."
Group 5+1 consists of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – China, Russia, France, Britain and the US - plus Germany.
Due to the Islamic Republic’s rapid developments in the area of nuclear technology, the country will actively be present in the process of talks with member states of the Group 5+1, he said, adding that two-sides' proposed packages should be considered.
Although Tehran does not accept solely the cessation of its nuclear enrichment activities, it is for the idea of all-out annihilation of nuclear bombs, the MP reiterated.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is the harbinger of the idea of “Mideast free from nuclear bombs too”, he added.
