Rosatom chief says Bushehr power plant nears commissioning

Tehran, Feb 25, IRNA -- Chief of the Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko expressed satisfaction with the process of development and test-commissioning Bushehr Power Plant and said it is an important stage that requires great responsibility.

At the beginning of his talks with Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Reza Aqazadeh, Kiriyenko said “ensuring security in the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is a top priority of our plan.”

He added that the Bushehr Power Plant project has started its pilot stage operation today and the Russian side has expressed its readiness to guarantee the control of it for a year after commissioning.

“At present, we are in a final stage of launching the Bushehr project that is so joyful and we should make efforts to accelerate the process,” said the Russian official.

Sergei Kiriyenko heading a Russia’s 15-member delegation arrived in Iran on Wednesday and was welcomed by Iran's Atomic Energy Organization official Mohammad Saeedi at the airport.

The Russian delegation members are from Russia’s Rosatom and “Atomstroyexport”, the main contractor of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
