Soltanieh: ElBaradei's report bears nothing new
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 20, IRNA – Iran’s IAEA envoy Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said here Thursday that the IAEA Chief Mohammed ElBaradei’s new Iran report is not something new.
“The report shows that inspections in Iran are going on ordinarily and that practically , the inspections have become routine,” Soltanieh told IRNA late Thursday.
He said, “Though it is mentioned that Iran has not suspended the enrichment and not ratified the protocol, these are not something new; we have repeatedly expressed our technical and judicial reasons for those points.”
The Iranian envoy went on to say that Iran will continue to cooperate fully with the IAEA but the cooperation will only be within framework of legal commitments and based on the Safeguards Agreement and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
ElBaradei’s Iran report was presented to the IAEA Board of Governors on Thursday.
The report of the IAEA chief will be delivered within one week or ten days prior to the seasonal meeting of the agency’s Board of Governors for study.
The first meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors is slated to be held on March 2.
