IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Berlin, Feb 8, IRNA - US Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher called on Sunday for "immediate and conditional talks" with Iran.

"The US needs to engage in immediate and unconditional direct negotiations with North Korea," the Democratic Congresswoman from California said in her remarks to the 45th Munich Security Conference.

Welcoming the presence of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani at the high-profile security meeting, Tauscher stressed unconditional and direct talks between Iran and the US would be "in the interest of both countries."

New American President Barack Obama has expressed his readiness to engage in diplomacy with Iran to resolve the standoff over Tehran's nuclear program.
