President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that "We insist on our legitimate rights and will never make a compromise on it."

"Fortunately, the enemies have acknowledged to their defeat. They wanted to target the ideology of the Islamic Revolution but the resistance of our nation has brought them to their knees," he said.

President made the remarks in the tenth conference titled "Exchanging views on scientific, cultural and political issues" for Basiji intellectuals in Mashhad.

"They (enemies) claimed that it would take at least ten years for the Iranians to gain access to 20 centrifuges for enriching uranium but now that hundreds and even thousands of such devices have been commissioned, they have confessed to their failure and recognized Iran's significant progress to this end. They now call on the country to suspend its peaceful nuclear activities but to no avail," he said.

He also lauded the significant role of Basij forces, professors and intellectuals in Iran's scientific breakthrough which is in line with principles of the Islamic Revolution.
