Mottaki optimistic with G5+1-Iran talks

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Friday that the Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks in Geneva are expected to be positive.

"The G5+1 talks with Iran are expected to be positive in form and we hope that in content too they would fall within framework of common grounds and be flexible logically," Mottaki told his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan.

Mottaki said the Tehran-Ankara ties can serve as a model as volume of mutual transactions will reach as high as dlrs 11 billion by December 2008 from dlrs eight billion.

He said terrorists should not turn other countries' territories as a haven for making others insecure.

"We do not have good or bad terrorism. Terrorists should not use other countries' territories as a place for insecurity of others," said Mottaki.

Babacan in return said continued meetings and talks, more transactions, mutual investment, security cooperation and regional issues are important factors for expansion of bilateral ties.

As for Iraq, he said Ankara supports Iraqi independent and popular government.

He concluded that his country supports Iran's right for acquiring peaceful nuclear technology.
