Iran on Friday refuted western and Zionists' claims that its missiles are a threat to the region and Europe.
"Defense doctrine of the Islamic Republic (of Iran) is based on self-defense. (Standing) a threat needs getting prepared and since the US and the Zionist Regime have newly planned an all-out threat against Iran, the Islamic Republic's armed forces showed in an exercise their high defensive power to defend the Islamic land's territory and independence," Deputy Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad-Esmail Kowsari told IRNA on Friday.
Kowsari said the neighbors and regional states should not be worried about Iran's missile test because that's only a military exercise, showing that Iran is prepared to give swift and crushing response to any threat against it.
He, however, warned enemies of the Islamic Republic and the countries trying to terrify Iranian people and officials by issuing military threats. "Iranian armed forces will show serious and strong reaction to the countries in the shortest possible time."
He said any independent state needs to have necessary defensive power.
"Military exercises are a means for a country to showcase its defense capability in a bid to repel enemy's wrong decision," he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Kowsari said Iran has never been pursuing nuclear energy for non-peaceful purposes because "our religion and Islamic morals ban it and the IAEA too has necessary control and supervision over it."
