Talks on Iran, 5+1 packages open: source

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 14, IRNA
Iran-5+1-Nuclear
An informed source said Saturday that the talks on the packages of proposals put forward by Iran and the Group of 5+1 opened between Iranian officials and EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana.

The source told IRNA that both sides welcomed the common principles existing in the packages of proposals submitted by Iran and the Group 5+1.

Iran's attitude in providing the West with the package is strategic, he said, noting that Tehran has demonstrated its interest in all-out negotiations on its peaceful nuclear program.

Solana arrived in Tehran on Friday night and held talks with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

The senior EU official submitted the package of proposals of the Group 5+1 and letters from foreign ministers of the group (the US, France, the UK, Russia, China and plus Germany) to Mottaki.

Solana also held talks with the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili, who is also head of Iran's nuclear negotiation team, on Saturday afternoon.

The European official is scheduled to hold a news conference for domestic and foreign reporters at the residence of German ambassador to Tehran.
