Mottaki hopes UNSC will not make any uncalculated decision on Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Jan 28, IRNA
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Monday that he hoped the UN Security Council would not make any uncalculated decision in connection with Iran.

"We hope that realism and wise management will dominate all the UN Security Council members, especially its permanent members next month and they will not make any uncalculated decision," Mottaki told reporters here on Monday.

Mottaki said, "If a resolution is issued -- which we hope will not be issued -- then we will announce our stances. Definitely such a decision will have its own impact and we are determined to announce our decision on due time. Of course, the resolution will not have any effect on Iran's resolve to gain its rights completely."

Asked about Zionists' lobby at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, for imposition of sanctions against Iran, Mottaki said, "Zionists are facing extensive protests and condemnations for their heinous crimes against the Palestinian nation. The Human Rights Organization in Geneva has put issuance of a resolution on the issue on its agenda."

Voicing concern over recent Lebanese events, Mottaki said, "I do not think insecurity is in favor of the Lebanese nation and we hope recommendations of different Lebanese leaders would be taken into consideration. We support any plan in connection with Lebanon that is welcomed by the Lebanese parties. So, if the Arab League decisions are supported by the Lebanese, we will not oppose them."
