Russia, China should seriously counter another anti-Iran resolution: Official
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA
Former Under-Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council on Sunday called on Russia and China to act more seriously against the issuance of one more anti-Iran resolution given the country's peaceful nuclear activities.
Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli told IRNA, "We expect Moscow and Beijing, which have the highest level of cooperation with Iran, to be more serious in preventing the issuance of (another anti-Iran) resolution because their (China and Russia) move will remain in the memory of Iranian nation and can determine the type of future attitude, approach and cooperation."
Fazli urged the IAEA Chief Mohammed ElBaradei to strive for guaranteeing the position of the IAEA so that the international institution's prestige would not be harmed further.
He added that efforts to issue one more resolution indicate the fact that the US and Europe are not after solving Iran's nuclear problem from legal and technical aspects.
He stressed that issuance of a new resolution would result in Iran's growing distrust in the West, leaving the country a free hand to take reciprocal actions.
Issuance of a new resolution despite the Iran-IAEA cooperation as well as ElBaradei's reports would disgrace the Agency and the NPT, he noted.
"The Iranian people have repeatedly experienced pressures and sanctions and are fully ready to continue resistance, while maintaining national integrity and unity and being backed by officials, to regain their rights."
He said that one of the manifestations of national unity and integrity under present condition is the huge turnout in elections, which send out an important message for the US and the West.
