Iran's top nuclear official proposes dialogue with Europe

Director of the Media Affairs Department at Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ahmad Khademolmelleh said here Wednesday that Secretary of the Council Saeed Jalili had proposed talks and expansion of relations with Europe.
Khademolmelleh told IRNA, "Jalili has, in talks with European parties in Brussels, discussed a common ground for new round of cooperation within the framework of security, energy, democracy and economic relations. In the talks, he has announced that we are ready for talks and expansion of relations with Europe."
He predicted that the level of the Iran-Europe talks would extend far beyond the nuclear issue.
SNSC Secretary is to meet EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana Wednesday night to discuss issues of mutual interest.
Khademolmelleh said that meeting is to be held on a request by Solana and will take place at the Iranian Embassy in Brussels.
Mrs. Angelica Beer, head of the European Parliament delegation in connection with Iran and other members of the delegation will also meet Jalili prior to his meeting with Solana.
The EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero Waldner will also meet Jalili in Brussels on Thursday.
